There is something deliciously dangerous about where The Gentlemen Season 2 appears to be heading. The first season already had the perfect Guy Ritchie formula: aristocrats, criminals, ridiculous family problems, expensive suits, brutal violence, and characters who could turn a polite dinner into a bloodbath within thirty seconds. Now Netflix is taking that formula out of the English countryside and dropping Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass into the much nastier world of international organized crime.
Season 2 is officially scheduled to arrive on September 3, 2026, with all eight episodes releasing on Netflix worldwide. That date has given fans plenty of time to speculate, and Reddit has predictably become a minefield of theories, supposed leaks, trailer frame analysis, casting rumors, and arguments over where Eddie’s story is actually going. Some of the chatter is clearly fan fiction. Other details reportedly line up with official production information, promotional material, and behind-the-scenes reports.
And honestly? The most interesting part isn’t even the Italian mafia. It’s Eddie.
Eddie Horniman Is No Longer the Reluctant Duke
Season 1 ended with Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, making a choice that completely changed the direction of his character. He started the series wanting to protect his family estate and get as far away from Bobby Glass’s criminal operation as possible. By the finale, that clean escape route was gone.
Instead of destroying the business or simply buying his way out, Eddie decided to invest alongside Susie Glass, played by Kaya Scodelario.
That final decision felt like the moment Eddie finally stopped pretending he was above the criminal world. Reddit immediately picked up on the comparison to a classic Godfather-style transformation: the respectable outsider slowly discovers that power suits him a little too well.
Season 2 reportedly takes place one year after the Season 1 finale, which is a smart move. Eddie doesn’t need another eight episodes of pretending he’s uncomfortable with his new life. According to the reported plot details, that hesitation is basically gone.
He has spent the last twelve months working closely with Susie, and the results aren’t pretty.
Eddie is now an active crime boss. He understands the business, understands the leverage his title provides, and appears increasingly comfortable using both sides of his identity to get what he wants. Being the Duke of Halstead gives him access to a world that criminals normally can’t touch, while the Glass empire gives him money and influence that aristocratic connections alone can’t provide.
That’s a dangerous combination.
And I suspect this is where Season 2 could become much more interesting than simply giving us another collection of eccentric gangsters.
The Glass Empire Is Going International
The biggest structural change is the scale of the operation.
Season 1 largely revolved around cannabis production hidden beneath Britain’s stately homes and estates. It was a wonderfully absurd idea because the aristocratic setting wasn’t just decoration. The entire criminal enterprise was literally hiding underneath the polished world of Britain’s upper class.
Season 2 reportedly blows that setup wide open.
Eddie and Susie want to expand across Europe, with Italy becoming the central new battleground. That means the series can move away from the familiar English country-house environment and start playing with luxury villas, lakeside estates, expensive boats, international crime networks, and a much more continental atmosphere.
But expansion brings a problem that money can’t easily solve: Bobby Glass.
Ray Winstone’s Bobby remains a major force, despite operating from his luxurious open-roof prison arrangement. The problem is that the criminal mastermind appears to be losing his grip. His decisions become increasingly erratic, and Eddie and Susie are left dealing with the consequences.
That creates a fantastic dilemma.
Do they stay loyal to Bobby because he built the empire? Or do they quietly take control before his increasingly questionable judgment destroys everything?
The reported Netflix material seems to point directly toward that conflict, with the warning that “unfettered ambition never ends well.” That line feels particularly appropriate for Eddie, because his ambition is arguably the most dangerous weapon in the entire story.
Italy Changes the Whole Flavor
The production shift is one of the things I’m most excited about.
Filming for the eight-episode second season reportedly took place between May and October 2025, including locations around Lake Maggiore and areas connecting Italy and Switzerland. That’s a very different visual playground from the wet English estates of Season 1.
Think sunlit villas instead of gloomy country houses. Luxury boats instead of muddy fields. Designer suits against Alpine lake scenery. The contrast practically screams Guy Ritchie.
The new setting also introduces several important characters.
Sergio Castellitto plays Marco Moretti, described as a polished but vicious Italian mafia boss who becomes a major obstacle to Eddie and Susie’s European ambitions. Moretti sounds like exactly the kind of Ritchie character who can smile politely while ordering something horrible.
Then there’s Cico Maldini, played by Michele Morrone. Maldini is reportedly an Italian fixer who initially appears useful to Eddie and Susie as they try to understand the local criminal hierarchy. The catch is that he isn’t nearly as trustworthy as he seems.
Reported script summaries portray Maldini as a double-dealing wildcard who plays different factions against each other. That’s the sort of character who can survive an entire season simply by making everyone else believe he’s on their side.
The aristocratic side of the story is also getting reinforced. Hugh Bonneville joins the cast in a prominent upper-class role connected to the infrastructure surrounding the international drug trade. Fans have already connected this development to the power vacuum left behind by Season 1 figures such as Stanley Johnston, played by Giancarlo Esposito.

The last two are particularly fun additions because they’re recognizable figures outside the traditional acting world. If there’s one thing The Gentlemen understands, it’s that a little surprise casting can make a scene considerably more memorable.
Eddie and Susie Are Becoming Rivals Without Saying It
The Eddie-Susie relationship is still the heart of this whole thing.
Season 1 established a strange balance between them. Susie understood the criminal world. Eddie understood aristocratic power. Together, they had access to two completely different systems of influence.
Season 2 reportedly starts breaking that balance.
Theo James has discussed Eddie’s growing ambition, and the character is apparently much more aggressive by the beginning of the new season. He’s no longer simply using his title to survive. He’s actively using his aristocratic identity as a shield while exploiting the enormous resources of the criminal empire.
Susie sees the transformation happening.
That’s where things get uncomfortable.
The trailers reportedly show Susie describing Eddie as someone who is “evolving into something volatile.” Whether their relationship eventually becomes romantic, openly hostile, or remains a complicated partnership is still one of the biggest questions surrounding the season.
Personally, I’d rather see them remain dangerous allies than force a romance into the story. Their chemistry works precisely because neither character completely trusts the other.
What About Freddy?
Poor Freddy Horniman.
Daniel Ings turned Eddie’s older brother into one of Season 1’s most memorable disasters. The drug addiction, the absurd clothing, the constant panic, and especially the infamous slow-motion “conspiracy of snakes” breakdown turned Freddy into an instant fan favorite.
But the second season reportedly gives him much less room.
That makes sense from a story perspective. Freddy’s problems were perfect for the smaller-scale chaos of Season 1, where debts, scams, family embarrassment, and criminal misunderstandings could drive entire episodes.
An international mafia conflict is a different beast.
Trailer footage reportedly contains much less Freddy than fans might expect, leading to speculation that Eddie’s increasingly ruthless leadership could push his brother to the sidelines. Worse, Freddy may become a liability as the family’s problems escalate from British criminal nonsense into serious international warfare.
I wouldn’t count him out, though. Freddy has a remarkable talent for surviving situations that should have killed him three times over.

The Meghan Markle Rumor Is a Completely Different Kind of Chaos
Then there’s the bizarre off-screen story that briefly swallowed the The Gentlemen conversation.
In August 2026, reports and social-media rumors claimed that Meghan Markle was in talks for a role connected to a potential Season 3. The story spread rapidly across X and Reddit and produced a predictable amount of argument, speculation, and backlash.
Reports attributed to media figures including former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown claimed that the proposed arrangement was eventually abandoned following the public reaction.
Whatever actually happened behind the scenes, the bigger franchise news is arguably more significant: The Gentlemen has reportedly already been renewed for Season 3, despite Season 2 not yet having premiered.
Guy Ritchie is also expected to remain heavily involved, continuing his role as writer, director, and executive producer.
That’s a pretty strong vote of confidence from Netflix.
So, What Are We Actually Getting?
If the reported leaks and promotional details are accurate, Season 2 isn’t simply repeating the first season with different criminals. The entire scale is changing.
The story moves from a relatively contained British criminal ecosystem into an international power struggle. Eddie has evolved from reluctant aristocrat into someone who actively wants control. Susie has to deal with a partner who may be becoming harder to control, while Bobby Glass is reportedly making increasingly dangerous decisions.
Then Italy enters the equation, bringing new enemies, new alliances, and plenty of opportunities for somebody to betray somebody else.
And because this is still The Gentlemen, expect the usual Ritchie ingredients: sharp suits, rapid-fire dialogue, absurd violence, eccentric criminals, expensive toys, dark comedy, and at least a few scenes that make you wonder how the hell anyone thought that was a good idea.
A particularly wild trailer tease reportedly involves a caged tiger, while Vinnie Jones’ Geoff is apparently still perfectly happy carrying a shotgun around.
That’s basically the promise of Season 2 in miniature.
Bigger stakes. More money. More international crime. Less of Eddie’s old moral hesitation.
And probably several terrible decisions made by people wearing very expensive clothes.
