There are plenty of crime shows on Netflix, but The Gentlemen always felt like it was playing a slightly different game. It had the suits, the estates, the guns and the drug money, sure, but what really made the series work was its strange combination of British aristocracy, ruthless criminals and Guy Ritchie’s unmistakable sense of humor.
When the first season arrived in March 2024, I honestly wasn’t expecting it to become one of those shows where every episode ends with the feeling that somebody is about to get horribly betrayed. Yet here we are. Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass are coming back, and The Gentlemen Season 2 looks considerably more ambitious than the first chapter.
Netflix has now confirmed the release date, the new season has a fresh trailer, and the cast has expanded in some seriously interesting directions. Even better, there is already major news about a potential The Gentlemen Season 3.
So, here’s everything fans need to know before Eddie’s next move.
When Does The Gentlemen Season 2 Come Out on Netflix?
Netflix has confirmed that The Gentlemen Season 2 premieres worldwide on September 3, 2026.
The new season will follow Netflix’s usual binge-release strategy, meaning viewers won’t have to spend eight weeks waiting to find out who gets shot, betrayed or thrown under the proverbial bus. All eight episodes are scheduled to arrive at once, giving fans the perfect excuse to lose an entire weekend to Eddie and Susie’s increasingly complicated criminal operation.

The September release is particularly interesting because the second season has been a long time coming. The first season left Eddie in a completely different position from where he started, and the biggest question was always whether he would actually become comfortable with his new life.
Judging by what we’ve seen so far, the answer appears to be yes — and that’s probably bad news for everyone around him.
The New Season 2 Trailer Looks Sharper and Meaner
The latest The Gentlemen Season 2 trailer immediately makes one thing clear: Eddie Horniman isn’t the reluctant aristocrat we met at the beginning of the series anymore.
Theo James looks far more confident in the role, and that’s one of the details I’m most excited about. Eddie’s transformation was arguably the most satisfying part of Season 1. He began as a man trying to protect his family and get rid of an inconvenient criminal business attached to his estate. Somewhere along the way, he discovered that he was actually rather good at running the whole thing.
The trailer appears to lean heavily into that evolution.
The countryside is still there, but the scale has expanded dramatically. We get more glamorous locations, expensive clothes, international criminals and the kind of polished environments where somebody smiling at a dinner table might be planning your murder five minutes later.
That’s exactly the sort of playground where Guy Ritchie works best.
There is also a noticeable sense that Eddie and Susie are no longer simply reacting to problems. They are making decisions that affect the entire organization. And once you’re sitting at the top of a criminal empire, every decision creates three new enemies.
What Is The Gentlemen Season 2 About?
Season 2 reportedly jumps forward one year after the events of the first season.
Eddie and Susie have consolidated their position within Bobby Glass’s operation, and the business is doing extremely well. Naturally, this means everything is about to go horribly wrong.
The biggest change is geographical. Instead of keeping the story almost entirely within the English world established in Season 1, the new episodes expand into continental Europe, with Italy playing a major role.
That opens up a much bigger story.
Bobby Glass remains a major factor despite being incarcerated. From his unusual prison setup, he continues to influence the organization, but his decisions become increasingly unpredictable. Eddie and Susie are then faced with a problem that is considerably more dangerous than simply dealing with an outside rival: what happens when the person you’re supposed to be loyal to becomes a liability?
That conflict could be the emotional center of the season.
Eddie also has a much more complicated identity now. He’s still the Duke of Halstead, surrounded by wealth, tradition and old British aristocratic expectations. At the same time, he’s becoming a serious criminal operator.
That contradiction is what makes him interesting.
He’s not simply a gangster pretending to be a gentleman. He’s a gentleman discovering that the criminal world may actually suit him.
And that’s a much darker character arc.
The Gentlemen Season 2 Cast
Theo James and Kaya Scodelario remain the heart of the series, with several familiar faces returning alongside a substantial group of new international players.

New Faces Enter Eddie’s Criminal World
The new cast additions are one of the strongest reasons to be curious about Season 2. The series is bringing in several recognizable names, including:

There are also some particularly unexpected guest appearances. Chris Eubank Jr. and Maya Jama are joining the show in special roles, adding another layer of British celebrity power to an already crowded cast.
I’m especially interested in what Hugh Bonneville brings to this universe. His previous screen persona makes him a potentially fascinating fit for Ritchie’s world, particularly if the character is positioned somewhere between respectable high society and criminal opportunism.
That’s basically the entire philosophy of The Gentlemen anyway.
Guy Ritchie Is Still Very Much in Control
One concern with any successful Netflix series is that the original personality can disappear once the franchise becomes bigger.
That doesn’t appear to be happening here.
Guy Ritchie remains deeply involved, returning as creator and a major creative force while working alongside writer Matthew Read. His fingerprints are all over the style that made the first season so entertaining: quick dialogue, sudden violence, eccentric supporting characters, sharp editing and a constant willingness to let a scene become completely ridiculous.
The production began filming in 2025 after Netflix officially renewed the series in 2024. Filming reportedly wrapped ahead of its original schedule, which gave the production additional time for post-production before the September 2026 premiere.
And considering how much of the appeal comes from timing, editing and visual rhythm, that’s a good thing.
Has Netflix Renewed The Gentlemen for Season 3?
Here’s where things get particularly interesting.
According to the information surrounding the upcoming season, Netflix renewed The Gentlemen for a third season in August 2026, before Season 2 has even reached audiences.
That’s a pretty serious vote of confidence.
The reported plan is for Guy Ritchie to remain involved, with another eight-episode season being developed. Specific story details are being kept quiet, which is probably sensible. Season 2 hasn’t even premiered yet, and revealing where the story goes beyond that would take some of the fun out of it.
There have also been indications that production planning for Season 3 is already underway.
I wouldn’t read too much into that yet, though. The really important thing is whether Season 2 can justify the larger scale. Bigger locations and more famous actors are nice, but The Gentlemen doesn’t need to become a generic international crime thriller.
Its greatest strength is still the bizarre collision between English privilege and criminal brutality.

Why I’m Looking Forward to Season 2
What makes me optimistic about the second season is that it doesn’t seem interested in simply repeating Eddie’s original storyline.
The first season was essentially about a man discovering the criminal business underneath his aristocratic inheritance. Season 2 has the chance to ask a more interesting question:
What happens after he stops wanting out?
That’s where the character becomes much more dangerous.
Eddie now understands how power works. Susie has her own ambitions and instincts. Bobby remains a volatile presence. Freddy is still Freddy. And the move into Europe introduces an entirely new group of people who don’t necessarily care about the rules Eddie has learned to manipulate.
The result could be a much nastier power struggle.
And honestly, that’s exactly what I want from The Gentlemen.
I don’t need the series to become darker just for the sake of being darker. I want clever betrayals, ridiculous criminals, uncomfortable aristocrats, dry British humor and characters who think they’re smarter than everybody else until somebody pulls a gun.
If Season 2 can keep that balance while expanding the story, Netflix may have something much more durable than another one-season hit.
